Parhelion Plaza

The Darkway does not announce itself. It simply opens under Silvermoon City like a throat, and the only courtesy it offers is darkness honest enough to keep its name.

Laotou went down out of the Bazaar with two Delver’s Calls still warm from the board — The Darkway and Parhelion Plaza — and Valeera Sanguinar walking at the monk’s shoulder. The chronicler has watched that blade join a great many parties. She never explains herself. She never needs to. By the time the pair reached the bottom of the passage, Laotou had already pulled weeds from cracks that should not have held life, gathered the small blessings the dark coughs up for anyone stubborn enough to keep walking — a Boon of Fortitude that shone like something the world did not mean to drop, a Thalassian Phoenix Plume still warm with old fire, a Boon of Vigor, then another — and left Infiltrator Gulkat where infiltrators belong when their work is finished.

The chronicler was not down there and will not invent the blows. What is known is the ending. Gulkat stayed down. Laotou came up wearing Miststalker’s Brigandine across the chest, a name that sits well on a Pandaren who means to keep other people breathing. Valeera left at the surface without farewell, as she does. Some companions are weather. They arrive. They pass. You do not ask them to stay.

From Silvermoon Harbor the monk crossed the Shining Span onto the Isle of Quel’Danas, where the light still pretends it won something permanent. Parhelion Plaza waited beyond — a place that sounds like a poem until you are inside it, and then it sounds like stone and hard work. Valeera rejoined without ceremony. Somewhere in that press the world flickered toward a Voidstorm and back again, the way old wounds do when the weather turns. More boons. More coin. A Boon of Possibilities twice over, which is a fine name for a thing nobody can explain and everyone pockets anyway.

Then Gladius Slaurna.

Again, the chronicler will not invent the fight. The gladius stayed down. Laotou hung a Serpentine Talisman at the throat and walked out of Parhelion Plaza with an enchanter’s formula stuffed in a pouch — Empowered Rune of Avoidance, for a helm that has not yet asked for it — and nearly eight hundred gold heavier than when the evening began. Valeera left again. The pattern holds.

Back in the Bazaar, both Delver’s Calls closed in the same breath. The coin for finishing them was honest. What came after the coin was quieter: that thickening of limb and spirit that comes of surviving one more place that meant to keep you. Laotou felt it in The Bazaar of Silvermoon City and understood, without needing anyone to say so, that the road had lengthened again. Eighty-one. Another rung on a ladder that never ends.

The night closed toward the Sanctum of Light. The letters from Khaz Algar still wait — The Weaver, The Vizier, The General — and none of them are known for patience. Parhelion Plaza is finished. The horizon is not.
